2-2 Stalemate for Gorloks in Double OT

The Webster University men’s soccer team played Rhodes College to a draw on September 13.  The game was played a day early due to a storm that was bearing down on St. Louis over the weekend.  The teams played a long, physical game, with four cards handed out and two overtimes adding drama to the contest.

Webster opened the game with a goal from senior forward Kyle Regan, his first of the season.  Rhodes answered later in the game with a goal from senior midfielder Patrick Deveau.  The game remained tied for a
while, until junior forward Mike Riti lobbed a shot over the Rhodes keeper for the go-ahead score.  Then, late in the second half, Rhodes tied the game on a terrific shot from freshman forward Ilan Isaacs.  After that, both sides played two scoreless overtimes, with neither team able to best the other.

“I am really proud of us as a team,” said Webster captain Andrew Rudroff.  “We left it all on the field.  We really wanted the win, but we will take this and learn from it.”

Webster will take on the Westminster College Blue Jays in their next contest on September. 18.  The game will take place on Westminster’s campus in Fulton, Mo.  Webster and Westminster are both members of the
St Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
