Men's Soccer Streak Snapped at Six

Still Can Win SLIAC

The men's soccer team couldn't make a first half lead hold up as Greenville College scored two unanswered second-half goals to win, 2-1, on October 24 at the Soccer Park.  The win catapulted the Panthers past Webster into first place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Senior Andy Rudroff (DeSmet Jesuit HS, STL) put the Gorloks up 1-0 with his team-leading fifth goal at the 27 minute mark, off a pass from junior Mike Politte (St. Francis Borgia HS, STL).  Greenville scored two second-half goals off corner kicks to take the lead, and the game.

The loss puts Webster (5-1) in a 2nd place tie in the SLIAC with Principia College.  Greenville holds a half-game lead at 5-0-1.  Greenville still has games left with Principia and Spalding University (KY).  Webster has a tie-breaker edge on Principia, by virtue of their win over the Panthers earlier this season.

The Gorloks hit the road for a non-conference game at Westminster College on October 27 and return home on October 29 for a make up SLIAC contest versus Eureka College (IL).
