Miscues send Gorloks reeling

KISSIMMEE, FL - The first game jitters got the best of Webster Saturday as they opened the season with seven errors in its 10-0 defeat from nationally-ranked Simpson at the 2009 Rebel Games. The defense righted its self in the second game, but the Gorloks fell to Indiana Wesleyan, 1-0.

The Storm scored eight runs, only one was earned, over the final two innings to breeze to the victory. Senior Kelsey Washam had the lone Webster hit, a fourth-inning single.

Senior Gina Trapani (0-1) allowed two runs on six hits over five innings to absorb the loss. She added four strikeouts. Junior Nicole Buse wrapped up the final two innings, yielding eight runs (one earned) on two hits. She issued six walks with one strikeout.

A homerun to start the third inning was all the scoring in the nightcap as IWU recorded the 1-0 victory. The Gorloks had an opportunity to knot the game at one in the fifth inning. Senior Allie Park opened the inning with a walk, and move to second on sacrifice groundout.

Sophomore Erynn Coit laced a two-out single to centerfield, but Park was thrown out at home for the final out.

Junior Lexie Moore (0-1) allowed just one earned run on two hits over six innings and was saddled with the loss.
