CARLINVILLE, IL - Seven of the nine Webster starters recorded a hit and scored a run as Webster completed the three-game series sweep of Blackburn with a 18-5 victory Wednesday in the nine-inning contest.
The 18-run barrage came on 13 hits with only four extra base knocks. All four of the extra-base hits were doubles, including two from
Aaron Senzell. Senzell finished the game 3-for-6 with three RBI and one run scored.
Webster scored in six of the nine innings, including tallying 10 runs total over the last three. The Gorloks capped the contest with a six-run ninth.
After scoring three in each of the first two innings, the Gorloks averted potential trouble in the fifth inning. Holding a 7-2 lead, starter
John DuHadway ran into a little trouble, loading the bases on back-to-back to walks. However, reliever
Bryan Stanley (4-1) was able to come on and force a fielder's choice to wiggle out of the inning. Stanley earned the victory, going 3 1/3 innings. He allowed two runs (one earned) on four hits.
Senior
Andrew Fuiten added a team-high five RBI, while senior
Kyle Starnes knocked in three for the Gorloks.
Webster improved to 15-10 overall, 12-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
