Bryce Law had a no-hitter through 5 1/3 as Webster completed the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) season sweep of Maryville with the 14-2 victory Tuesday at GCS Ballpark.
The one earned run Maryville scored in the ninth inning snapped Law's personal streak without allowing an unearned run at 20 innings. The right hander improved to 3-2 on the season, allowing three hits and two runs (one earned). He finished with six strikeouts and no walks.
Webster opened the scoring in the second innings thanks to an RBI single by
Nathan Shelton and a steal of home by
Kyle Starnes. Junior
Aaron Senzell capped a seven-run third inning with a two-run home run, his fourth in five games. The big inning enabled Webster to open up a 9-0 lead.
Another big inning, a five-run sixth, put the Gorloks on the verge of the game shortened victory. Freshman
Joe Biagini capped the scoring with a three-run bomb, which was his eighth on the year.
Starnes finished 3-for-4 with two runs scored, while
Dakota Huey, Shelton and Biagini all had two hits.
Webster (23-11, 20-0 SLIAC) will travel to Eureka Friday and Saturday for a SLIAC three-game series.
