Gorloks Cap Season with Sweep of Blackburn

Webster celebrated senior day and capped their regular season with a 8-0, 9-1 doubleheader sweep of Blackburn College Saturday at Blackburn Park. The Gorloks are now 20-16 overall, 11-3 in the SLIAC, and earns a share of the SLIAC regular season championship.

Back-to-back walks in the second inning helped the Gorloks earn breathing room with a four-run inning. A sacrifice bunt had runners on second and third with one out, and senior Gina Trapani brings a run home. Junior Megan Sperry's bunt single loads the bases for junior Cassie Mosier's RBI flyout.

The Gorloks pull off the double steal as Sperry steals second and Trapani home for Webster's third run of the inning. Senior Kelsey Washam's double capped the scoring. They added one run in the fourth and two in the fifth to wrap the game after five innings.

Trapani (8-5) picked up the win, shutting out the Beavers on just five hits.

Washam opened the scoring in the second game with a two-run double in the first inning. The Gorloks added a run in the second and then three in the fourth to put some space between them and Blackburn.

Mosier had three hits in the game, while Samantha Dittmann, Lindsay McDonald, Mandy Van Velkinburgh and Sperry all had two hits.
