Bats awakened in nightcap

Webster pounded out 15 hits to score nine runs, including four runs in the first, to earn the 9-0 victory in the nightcap of the Gorloks' St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference twinbill with Westminster. The Blue Jays scored two runs in the sixth inning to pick up the 2-0 victory in the opener.

The Gorloks strung together four consecutive singles for the first two runs of the game. After a lineout, WU scored a run on a fielder's choice and single.

Pitcher Lexie Moore (1-5) took the four-run lead and slammed the door on Westminster. She picked up her first win of the season with the complete-game four-hitter.

Webster played added on with two runs in the fourth, thanks to an RBI single by Samantha Dittmann and a bases loaded walk by Gina Trapani.

Dana Vahey,  who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI, capped the scoring with a towering three-run homerun in the fifth inning. Cassie Mosier added a three-hit game for the Gorloks. Trapani and Mandy Van Velkinburgh each added two RBI in the victory.

Webster scattered six hits in the game one defeat. Megan Sperry (5-3) absorbed the loss, allowing two earned runs on seven hits with seven strikeouts.
