The Webster University men’s soccer team took an early 1-0 lead but, unable to respond after two Spalding University (KY) goals, lost 2-1 on October 20 in Louisville. Freshman Carlos Espinosa (Eureka HS, STL) scored the Gorloks lone tally.
Espinosa's goal was the fourth of his freshman season and is the team's second highest total behind Clint Carder's (SO, DeSoto HS, MO) league-leading 12 goals.
The Gorloks fell to 8-4-3 overall but remain 4-1-1 in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. The contest was considered a ‘non-conference’ match. Webster will be home on October 23 to take on Greenville College (IL) on ‘Senior Day.’ Seniors to be honored that day include: Bryan Enger, Eric Fuchs, Tom Holmes, Bryce Johnson, Kyle Leifield, Matt Mantia, Mike Politte, and Zack Papes.
