The Webster University men's baseball team stormed into St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action, beating Eureka College, 19-2 and 15-0, at Eureka, IL, on March 27. Several Gorloks had big days at the plate. as Webster entered SLIAC play with an offensive explosion. The wins extended the Gorloks winning streak in the SLIAC to 32 games, dating back to the 2008 season.
Nathan Shelton (JR, Northwest HS, STL) was seven for 10 for the two games, with six rbis and a stolen base and Anthony Genna (JR, Lyons Township HS, IL) was seven for nine, with three rbis. Craig Schaefer (JR, Carterville HS, IL) and Dakota Huey (SR, Highland HS, IL) both went deep on the day, with Schaefer going four for eight with four rbis and Huey going five for eight with four rbis. Victor Valdez (SR, Benet Academy, IL) also homered for the Gorloks on the day, his fourth of the year.
Will Savage (SR, Benet Academy, IL) picked up his second win of the season in the opener. Eight different Gorlok pitchers allowed six hits and two runs on the day, striking out 16 Red Devils.
Webster completes its three game set with Eureka on March 28 before travelling to Fontbonne University for a double-header on March 30.
