Softball Doubles Up Panthers

The Webster University women's softball team opened up the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season by sweeping a double-header at Principia College (IL), 8-0 and 15-0, on March 30.
Shutouts by Megan Sperry (SR, Clarkston HS, MI) and Meghan Lokey (SO, Hazelwood West HS, STL), and another offensive display by Jessica Arcangel (FR, St. Lucy's Priory, CA), led the Gorloks.

Sperry pitched a one-hitter in the 8-0 win, giving up the lone hit in the bottom of seventh inning, while striking out seven.  Arcangel was three for four with a double, two RBIs, and three runs scored.  Ashley Meagher (FR, Dupo HS, IL) and Lokey were both two for four with two RBIs.

In the nightcap, Lokey pitched a three-hit shutout, striking out six..  Arcangel was three for four again, doubling her game one RBI output to four.  Cassie Mosier (SR, LeRoy HS, IL) was two for four with two doubles and four RBIs, with Sperry, Lokey and Sam Dittmann (SR, St. Pius X, STL) each banging out three hits.

Webster starts SLIAC play 2-0, and improves its overall record to 9-7 on the season.  The Gorloks are back in action on April 6 at Millikin University (IL).
