The Webster University men's baseball team kept up its offensive surge, scoring in double digits again in a 14-5 win over Blackburn College (IL) at GCS Ballpark on April 21.
Bryan Stanley (SR, Larkin HS, IL) had his first start of the year on the mound, and picked up the win.
A triumverat of hitters led the way for the Gorloks.
Zach Little (SR, Ritenour HS, STL) was four for five, with three runs scored, and five RBIs. He was a triple short of the cycle as he doubled and hit his third home run of the year.
Cody Stevenson (FR, Centralia HS, IL) was a double short of a cycle as he was five for five, with five runs scored, and hit his fourth home run of the season. Webster's other big gun was
Craig Schaefer (JR, Carterville HS, IL) who was three for five with five RBIS, including a grand slam. The home run was Schaefer's sixth of the year.
Stanley pitched six strong innings, in the nine inning affair, allowing three hits and one earned run while striking out eight. He picked up his seventh win on the season, and leads the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference. The seven wins are the third highest total in a single season for Webster, nine being the most. Stanley is fifth on Webster's all-time win list, with 13 total.
Bryce Law (SR, Rochelle HS, IL) finished the game and picked up his first save in his Gorlok career. Law pitched an inning and a third, allowing no hits or runs.
The Gorloks are in first place in the SLIAC with a 14-1 record, and are 23-7 overall. Webster is back at GCS Ballpark on April 23 for "Senior Night" with a double-header vs. Principia College (IL). Ten seniors baseball players will be recognized.
