Gorloks Down Principia, 14-0, Go To 15-1 in SLIAC

The Webster University men’s baseball team solidified its hold on first in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, beating Principia College (IL), 14-0, on “Senior Night” at GCS Ballpark on April 23. Webster maintained its two game lead behind solid pitching and a career night from one of ten senior baseball players honored in a ceremony that took place before a scheduled game two was rained out. That game will be made up as part of a double-header at Principia on April 26 at 5:00 pm.

David Mueller (SO, Westminster Christian Academy, STL) picked up the win, allowing two hits and no walks in six innings pitched. Mueller improved his season record to 5-0 and lowered his earned run average to 1.96 on the season.

John Combs (SR,Macomb HS, IL) had his best game as a Gorlok, going three for three, with three runs scored, two home runs, and five RBIs. Combs, coming back from an injury that limited him to 28 bats in 2009, raised his average to .375, while upping his home run total to four. Fellow senior Zach Little (Ritenour HS, STL) was three for four, with three runs scored and three RBIS. Little raised his average to .459 on the season.

In addition to Combs and Little, the other eight seniors cited were:
