The Webster University men's baseball team extended its winning streak to 10 games, beating Principia College, 11-4 and 19-4, in Elsah, IL, on April 26. Webster is averaging over 13 runs per game during the current streak, and has hit double figures in 18 of 33 games this season. The national polls are taking notice, with Webster receiving votes in this week's American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) and D3Baseball.com's NCAA III national rankings.
Bryce Law (SR, Rochelle HS, IL) picked up his third win of the season in the opener, pitching five innings and allowing three earned runs.
Will Savage (SR, Benet Academy, IL) picked up the win in the nightcap, running his record to 6-0 on the season. Savage was fresh off being selected as the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference "Pitcher of the Week," for April 19-25.
Craig Schaefer (JR, Carterville HS, IL) homered in both ends of the twinbill, raising his season total to eight.
Joe Biagini (SO, Glenbard South HS, IL) homered in the opener and
Zach Little (SR, Ritenour HS, STL) went deep in the finale. Little continued his assault at the plate, going three for five, with three runs scored and five RBIs for the night, and raising his season average to .456. He has 16 hits in his last 28 at-bats, and has had a hit in 16 of 19 games played this season.
The Gorloks are 17-1 in the SLIAC and 26-7 overall. Webster is in first place by two games, with six conference games remaining, and the team has a nine-game win streak in the SLIAC.
Webster has two home dates this week at GCS Ballpark with an unusual starting time of 11:00 a.m. On April 29, the Gorloks take on Westminster College in a double-header, and on April 30 take on Greenville College (IL) for a single nine-inning contest.
