Softball Drops Double-header at Millikin

The Webster University women's softball team dropped a double-header on the road to a tough Millikin University (IL) team, 5-3 and 5-0.  Gorlok could not get untracked on offense and defense, as they faced a perennial NCAA III power.

Lexie Moore (SR, Champaign Central HS, IL) got the start in game one and allowed five hits and two walks in six innings.  Webster was cruising with a 3-0 lead in the fifth, and Moore had not allowed a hit when The Big Blue were able to convert five hits and two errors into five runs.  Webster could muster no more offense and lost 5-3.  #Cassie Mosier# (SR, LeRoy HS, IL) was three for four, with two doubles, a run scored, and an RBI for Webster.

In the nightcap, Megan Sperry (SR, Clarkston HS, MI) started and scattered seven hits, walked three, and allowed five runs, four earned.  Defensive errors by the Gorloks played a part in two two-run innings by Millikin and Webster's offense could muster just two hits and one walk in a 5-0 loss. Webster is 9-9 on the season.  Millikin improves to 16-8.

Webster has two more road trips this week, visiting Blackburn College (IL) on April 8, and Eureka College (IL) on April 10, as they tackle a SLIAC-heavy schedule the rest of the season.
