The Webster University women's softball team improved its record in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference to 4-0 with a double-header sweep, 14-2 and 9-1, at Blackburn College (IL) on April 8. Offensive highlights were spread throughout the Gorlok offense, and the team received two complete game pitching performances.
Ashley Meagher (FR, Dupo HS, IL) pitched a complete game win in the opener, as the Gorloks won 14-2. Webster's 17-hit attack was led by
Kaytlin Burczak (FR, Bishop McNamara HS, IL) who was three for three with two doubles and three RBIs.
Ashley Bolton (JR, Knob Noster HS, MO) was three for three with two RBIs, and
Cassie Mosier (SR, LeRoy HS, IL) went three for four with two RBIs.
In the nightcap,
Meghan Lokey (SO, Hazelwood West HS, STL) allowed one run as she pitched a complete game win. A
Jessica Arcangel (FR, St. Lucy's Priory, CA) double with the bases loaded gave the Gorloks a 5-1 lead, as they went on to win 9-1.
Sam Dittmann (SR, St. Pius X HS, STL) was two for two, with a triple and two RBIs.
Megan Sperry (SR, Clarkston HS, MI) and Mosier were both two for two, with two walks and two stolen bases.
Both games ended after five innings of play, with Webster ahead by eight or more runs. Webster is 11-9 overall on the season. The Gorloks travel to Eureka College (IL) to take on the Red Devils in a double-header on April 10 before finally returning home to face Westminster College on April 14 at Blackburn Park. They will be the first home games in three weeks for Webster.
