The Webster University men's baseball team entered rarified air this week, as it slid into the American Baseball Coaches Association/Collegiate Baseball NCAA III poll for May 4. Webster is ranked 29th nationally in this week's poll.
The Gorloks, riding an eight-game winning streak and with a 24-7 record, received votes in the April 27 poll for the first time this season. Webster jumped into the top 30 after running its win streak to 14 while clinching the St. Louis Intecollegiate Athletic Conference title for a fourth straight season. Webster was 6-1 for the week with the lone loss coming after the Gorloks had clinched the title in the first game of a double-header.
The ranking marks the Gorloks first appearance since ending the season ranked 21st in the ABCA's final 2008 poll. Webster has one game remaining on its regular season schedule, a May 9 contest at Westminster College. Webster will host the SLIAC post-season tournament on May 13-15 at Glik Park in Highland, IL.
