The Webster University men's soccer team started the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference season on the wrong side of the ledger, losing at Greenville College (IL), 3-0, on September 28. The loss ends a Gorlok five-game unbeaten streak that saw them go 4-0-1.
The Gorloks trailed 1-0 after a goal at the 36:00 minute mark by the Panthers. Webster couldn't break through offensively and Greenville added two second half goals to seal the victory. Greenville, who Webster defeated for the SLIAC Tournament Championship last season, was the conference pre-season favorite for the 2010 season.
Starting the SLIAC at 0-1, Webster drops to 4-3-2 overall on the season. The Gorloks start a three-game homestand against SLIAC opponents on October 1 vs. Spalding University (KY), MacMurray College (IL) and Blackburn College (IL) will follow on October 5 and 9.
