Webster Under the Gun With 1-0 Loss to Westminster

The men's soccer team is on the outside-looking in at the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference post-season tournament, as Webster suffered a 1-0 loss to Westminster College on October 25 at the Soccer Park.  The Gorloks are going to have to take care of business and get a little help in they are to gain a berth.

Webster is 3-3-1 in the SLIAC and Blackburn College (IL) is a game and a half ahead of the Gorloks in the fourth and final spot for the SLIAC Tournament.  Tied with Webster for the #5 spot is Principia College (IL), also 3-3-1.  Blackburn must travel to Fontbonne College on October 26 before finishing the season against Webster on October 29 in Carlinville, IL.  Webster needs a Blackburn loss at Fontbonne to force a showdown.

Principia will be facing those same Griffins on the road on October 29...and Webster will need Fontbonne's help once again since it appears the Panthers hold the tie-breaker with the Gorloks.

In the game vs. Westminster, the Gorloks managed 10 shots and had two richochets off the the goal post, but couldn't find the back of the net.  The Blue Jays scored 31 minutes into the contest and it would be all the needed to secure the win.  Brian Woodward (FR, Eureka HS) started in goal and made six saves while facing 14 shots.

It was 'senior night' and Alex Cupp (Lutheran South HS), Dominic DeVasto (St. John Vianney HS), Bryan Enger (Mehlville HS), and Shea Vogt (Marquette HS) made their final appearance in a Webster uniform at the Soccer Park.  They were honored in a brief ceremony before the game.
