Webster Blasts Beavers, 9-3

The Webster University men's baseball team downed Blackburn College, 9-3, at Carlinville, IL, on April 2.  Steve Dooley (SO, Florissant Valley CC) got the win, running his record to a perfect 3-0 on the season.

Dooley made his first start of the season, scattering seven hits in six innings and walking none, while striking out six.  Tom Henke (JR, Forest Park CC) had a big day at the plate, going 3-3 with a run scored, two RBIs, and two stolen.  Henke leads the team with a .395 average.  The Gorloks stole five bases on the afternoon, giving them 64 in 13 games.

Mike Gebhardt (JR, St. Dominic HS) and Jason Gray (JR, North Central CC, MO) pitched three innings of scoreless relief to finish up the game for Webster.

The Gorloks are 2-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and 9-4 overall.  The Beavers travel to St. Louis for a return double-header with the Gorloks at GCS Ballpark on April 3.  Webster travels to Greenville College (IL) on April 5 for a single game and returns home on April 8 for a solo game with Principia College (IL) at GCS.
