Scoring in double figures both games, the Webster University women's softball team slugged its way to 13-3 and 11-3 wins over Spalding University, on April 2, in Louisville, KY. The Gorlok bats, coming alive for five home runs in their last double-header, hit three more, as Trisha Thompson (FR, Xavier Prep HS, AZ) and Ashley Meagher (SO, Dupo HS, IL) picked up the wins.
Thompson continued buidling on a stellar freshman season, improving to 5-2 with the win in relief, pitching out of a bases-loaded jam in the third inning of game one. She struck out nine over the final five innings. Meagher won her fourth straight decision as she improved to 5-3 on the year, with the complete game win in game two. Meagher had seven strikeouts in the victory.
Kristie Konersmann (FR, Northwest HS) was 4-4 in game one, and Hanna Brindisi (JR, John A. Logan CC, IL) was 4-5 with five RBIs. Chelsea Schaffer (JR, Lindbergh HS) was 3-4, and Jessica Arcangel (SO, St. Lucy's Priory HS, CA) was 3-5 with three RBIs.
In game two, Kaytlin Burczak (SO, Bishop McNamara HS, IL) hit her first home run of the year, going 2-3 with three RBIs. Arcangel homered for the third time in four games and was 2-2 Schaffer was 2-4 with three RBIs and her third home run of the season, while adding to her team-leading .444 batting average.
Webster is 3-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference and 13-9 overall. The Gorloks have a double-header at Greenville College (IL) on April 6, before returning home for a double-header vs. Principia College (IL) on April 9 at Blackburn Park.
