The Webster University men’s baseball team travelled to Bloomington, IL, on April 28, to take on 26th ranked Illinois Wesleyan University, but dropped 10-3 and 10-4 decisions to the Titans. Webster took an early 3-0 lead in game one, but a nine-run fourth inning by the Titans doomed the Gorloks. The Webster offense rallied late in game two, mustering four runs, but a trio of Webster hurlers were dinged for 10 runs as Wesleyan built a 9-0 lead early.
Cody Stevenson (SO, Centralia HS, IL) was three for six on the evening, with two RBIs. Anthony Genna (SR, Lyons Township HS, IL) was two for four, with a run scored, an RBI, and a triple in the nightcap. Paul Kienker (SR, St. John Vianney HS) was three for three, with a double, in game two.
Webster has a three-game set on April 30-May 1 vs. Spalding University in Louisville, KY. Spalding, not eligible for post-season play yet, leads the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings with a 13-0 record. The Gorloks are second in the SLIAC at 14-2, and 21-10 overall.
