Shelton Swiped Four in the Win

Gorloks Sprint By Panthers, 19-4

The Webster University track team is off this weekend but the men's baseball team filled in quite nicely, stealing 15 bases in a 19-4 victory over Principia College (IL) at GCS Ballpark, on April 8,  The Gorloks have stolen 93 bases and increased their NCAA III leading average per game to 5.47.

Nathan Shelton (SR, Northwest HS) led the track meet with four stolen bases on the night.  Cody Stevenson (SO, Centralia HS, IL) and Matt Moore (JR, St. Joseph's College) each had three swipes for the game.  Stevenson leads the Gorloks with 23 steals on the year and Shelton is second on the team with 14.  Moore was 2-2 with four runs scored, as Stevenson and Paul Kienker (SR, St. John Vianney HS) each went 2-3 on the night.

Anthony Genna (SR, Lyons Township HS, IL) provided the only long ball of the evening, hitting a grand slam in a seven-run sixth inning for Webster.  Genna leads the Gorloks with 23 RBIs on the season. 

Zach Schneider (FR, Warren Township HS, IL) started and pitched five innings of two-hit ball, allowing only one unearned run.  Schneider, who picked up his second win, struck out nine and walked none as he lowered his season ERA to 1.70.

Webster is 6-1 in the SLIAC and 13-4 overall.  The team travels to Principia College for a double-header on April 9.  The Gorloks then travel to Fulton, MO on April 12 to take on Westminster College.
