Mueller Picked up His Sixth Win of the Season

Baseball Grounds Griffins, 9-7

The Webster University men's baseball team took the first game of a weekend three-game series with Fontbonne University, 9-7, on May 7h, at Shaw Park in Clayton.  Jason Gray (JR, North Centrall CC, MO) came on in the ninth to save a game that was looking like a laugher, after the Griffins had scored six runs to close an eight-run gap to two.

David Mueller (JR, Westminster Christian Academy) started for Webster and won his sixth game of the season, improving to 6-2 on the year.  Mueller pitched seven innings, allowing five hits and one earned run, while striking out six.

Craig Schaefer (SR, Northwest HS) was three for three, with three RBIs, and Tom Henke (JR, Forest Park CC) was three for five, with two runs scored, and two RBIs.

The Gorloks are 19-3 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with the win and 26-11 overall.  Webster will complete their regular season with a double-header vs. the Griffins at GSC Ballpark on May 8.   The SLIAC Tournament starts on May 12 at Glik Park in Highland, IL on May 12.
