Gorloks Take Over 1st With 1-0 Win at Prin

The Webster University men's soccer team entered the day tied for first place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Conference and came away with sole possession as the Gorloks won at Principia College (IL), 1-0, on October 20.

Mike Wells (SO, McCluer North HS, MO) scored the game's only goal on a penalty kick five minutes into the second half.  For Wells, it was his seventh goal of the year and gives him the team lead in that category.

After being outplayed in the first half, as Principia hit the crossbar and post on shots, the Gorloks came out fighting in the second.  Webster had numerous chances to score, hitting the cross bar and had shots for several point blank saves by the Blue and Gold goalie, but Wells tally was the only score.

Webster is 5-1 in the SLIAC, a game ahead of Fontbonne University and Westminster College, who sit at 4-2.  The Gorloks are 9-5-1 on the season.

The Gorloks are at home on October 23 to face Fontbonne University at the Soccer Park.  Webster wraps up its regular season schedule on the road at Greenville College (IL) on October 27.
