Box Score The Webster University men's soccer began play in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 4-0 win over Blackburn College (IL) on October 3, at the Soccer Park. The Gorloks had a dominating performance on the evening, outshooting the Beavers, 30-3, and Brian Woodward (SO, Eureka HS, MO) picked up his third shutout of the season.
The Gorloks broke on top on an unassisted goal by Carlos Espinosa (JR, Eureka HS, MO) at the 29 minute mark in the first half. The goal was Espinosa's fourth of the season. After entering halftime with a 1-0 lead, Webster struck for three more goals in the second.
Justin Peters (SO, Holt HS, MO) scored his first goal of the year to put Webster up 2-0 at the 58:00 mark. Taylor Overstreet (SO, McCluer North HS, MO) followed with his second goal of the season. Mike Wells (SO, McCluer North HS, MO) put the finishing touches on the Webster scoring with his third goal of the fall.
Woodward had to make only one save in the win. He evens his season record in goal at 4-4-1 with the victory.
The men continue play in the SLIAC as they host Spalding University (KY) on October 5 at the Soccer Park. On October 9, the team will travel to Fulton, MO, to take on Westminster College.
