Softball Drops First Two in California

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Facing a loaded Azuza Pacific squad, the Webster University softball dropped a twinbill to the Cougars, 9-0 and 7-0, on March 10, in Azuza, CA.  The Gorloks couldn't break through against an Azuza team that was ranked pre-season in the NAIA and has 15  returning players from 2011, including eight starters.

Webster managed just one hit in the opener, by senior Tabatha Bahre (Lutheran South HS), a five-inning affair that saw only 16 Gorloks come to the plate.  In the nightcap, Webster reached Azuza pitching for four hits, but still had a goose egg on the scoreboard.

The Gorloks played flawless defense in the opener but had three miscues in the second game, leading to two unearned Cougar runs.  Ashley Meagher (JR, Dupo HS, IL) took the loss in the first game and Trisha Thompson (SO, Xavier Prep HS, AZ) took the loss in the second.

The Gorloks face University of the Redlands for a doubleheader on March 11, and are at Whittier College on March 12 for two, as the California swing continues.
