The Webster University baseball team ran its win streak to six with a doubleheader win, 9-2 & 15-1, at Blackburn College (IL), on April 7. The Gorloks sit atop the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference standings with a 9-0 mark. Webster banged out 23 hits while scoring 24 runs, and had two solid starting performances on the day.
Cody Hafeli (JR, Kankakee CC, IL) went six innings on the mound and picked up his fourth win of the season as Webster won game one, 9-2. He allowed five hits and two walks, while striking out three, and one earned run. Hafeli, who's ERA fell to 2.43, is 4-1 and shares the team lead in wins with David Mueller (SR, Westminster Christian Academy).
Alex Kazmierski (JR, Triton CC, iL) belted his team-leading fifth home run of the season, going two for two with three RBIs and a double. He also walked twice. Mike Rainbolt JR, Kankakee CC, IL) went two for five and had two RBIs. Rainbolt has 20 RBIs in only 43 at-bats on the year.
In the nightcap. Isaac Behme (FR, Harrisburg HS, IL) started and went five innings for the win. He gave up two hits and four walks, and allowed just one earned run. Behme struck out 14 in his last start but had just one strikeout in the game. He is now 3-2 on the season with a 2.55 ERA.
Cody Stevenson (JR, Centralia HS, IL) went 0-1 in the game, but scored three runs, reaching base twice by walk and once by hit by pitch. Stevenson stole three bases, giving him an NCAA III leading 34. Taylor Stoulp (SO, St. Mary's HS) was two for six, with three RBIs and a double. Tom Henke (SR, Forest Park CC) was three for four with three RBIS, three runs scored, and a double. Henke leads the team with 23 RBIs.
Webster is 16-8 overall on the season. The Gorloks host MacMurray College (IL) at GCS Ballpark, on April 10, for a twinight doubleheader.
