A team having a record-breaking season often has record-breaking individual efforts that contributed as well, and the 2012 Webster University baseball team was no exception. Numerous record highs for a season were set by the Gorloks and some career highs were set in the process as well.
Webster, as a team: won its sixth straight St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference title, made its seventh NCAA appearance, won its first ever Regional Championship, and made its first ever World Series appearance. The Gorloks won 36 games in the process, a new season high.
Individually, David Mueller (SR, Westminster Christian Academy) made his mark in the pitching career records, setting new highs for wins (22), strikeouts (238), and innings pitched (247), and set a single season record for strikeouts (111) as well. Mueller also wound up third in career earned run average (2.52) and sixth in win percentage (22-7, .759).
Cody Stevenson (JR, Centralia HS, IL) broke his own career record for stolen bases, he now has 133, and also broke his own single season record with his 59 steals in 2012.
Other Gorloks who made their marks in the Webster record book in 2012 were:
