Box Score Two Kris Brown corner kicks led to goals in the Webster University men's soccer team's 2-1 victory over Principia College (Ill.). The Gorloks improved to 9-2-3 overall and 4-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with the win Tuesday (Oct. 15) at St. Louis Soccer Park.

About three minutes into the second half, Brown (Wentzville, MO / St. Charles CC), a junior midfielder, curled his right-footed corner-kick attempt into the box. Freshman forward BJ Dryer (St. Louis, MO / Pattonville) knocked it in for his third goal of the season.

With less than seven minutes remaining in the game and the score knotted at 1-apiece, Brown took a corner kick from the same spot that produced Webster's first goal. His attempt banged off an opposing player and into the back of the net. The goal was Brown's fourth in four games and his second straight game-winning tally.

Junior Brian Woodward (Eureka, MO / Eureka) made five saves in goal for the Gorloks. Webster outshot the visitors 22-15 for the game, including a 12-6 edge in the second half. Webster is now 17-10-4 all-time against Principia.

The Gorloks have won six straight games and outscored their opponents 14-1 during that span. A second-half tally by the visitors was the first goal Webster allowed in 557 minutes of game action, spanning seven games.

With their 4-0 conference record, the Gorloks are tied for first in the SLIAC standings heading into a match with Fontbonne Saturday (Oct. 19) at 1 p.m. in Clayton. The contest features the two teams picked to finish at the top of the conference, according to a pre-season poll of SLIAC coaches.
