Box Score In a rematch of last year's conference tournament championship game, the Webster University men's soccer team once again blanked Westminster College (Mo.), this time 1-0 Tuesday (Oct. 29) at St. Louis Soccer Park.

Westminster entered tonight's game with a SLIAC-leading 7-0 record, while Webster was tied for second in the conference with a 6-1 mark. After tonight's results, the Gorloks and Westminster are in a three-way tie for the SLIAC lead with Fontbonne. Webster has one conference game remaining, this Saturday (Nov. 2) at home against Iowa Wesleyan.

Webster has won three straight contests and nine of its last 10. The Gorloks have compiled eight shutouts this season.

Freshman BJ Dryer (St. Louis, MO / Pattonville) scored the game's lone goal in the 22nd minute. Junior Jeff Wallner (Eureka, MO / Eureka) launched a long ball from the backfield that freshman Alex Whalen (Chesterfield, MO / Parkway Central) flicked on.

Dryer gathered the ball, outmuscled two defenders and coolly knocked in his fifth goal of the season and second in as many games. Whalen's assist was the first point of his collegiate career.

Brian Woodward (Eureka, MO / Eureka) made one save to collect his sixth solo shutout of the season. He also shut out Westminster, with six saves, in last year's SLIAC title game, a 2-0 win.

With the win, the Gorloks improved to 12-3-3 overall and 7-1 in SLIAC play. Webster is 12-1-3 against NCAA Division III opponents.

The Gorloks will play in the SLIAC tournament semifinals Wednesday (Nov. 6) at a time and site to be determined.
