Box Score 2 Remaining perfect in the SLIAC at 17-0 and winning its ninth straight game, the Webster University baseball team defeated Fontbonne University, 9-0 and 12-4, at GCS Ballpark on April 21.  The 10th ranked Gorloks improved to 25-6 overall, having won 22 of their last 23 games.
Isaac Behme (SO, Harrisburg HS, IL) got the start and the victory in the Gorloks' 9-0 win
in the opener.  Behme won his staff-leading seventh game and struck out 10 Griffins in just five innings.  He allowed two hits and walked three before letting the bullpen take over.
It was Christmas in April for the Gorloks as five Griffin errors in the first two innings helped stake Webster to a 7-0 lead.  Cody Stevenson (SR, Centralia HS, IL) led off with a single in the first and Corey Lasky (JR, College of Lake County, IL) followed with a double.  Taylor Stoulp (JR, St. Mary's HS, MO) doubled also, driving in Stevenson and Lasky.  Mike Rainbolt (SR, Kankakee HS, IL) laid down a sac bunt and reached on an error on the pitcher.
Rainbolt stole second and Stoulp scored on a throwing error by the catcher.  Two batters later, Ryan Hall (JR, Central Arkansas, MO) reached on an error on the shortstop as Rainbolt scored.  In the second, after a single by Joe Winckel (JR, North County HS, MO) and walk by Mitchell Bonds (SR, Kankakee CC, IL), Stevenson reached on a bunt hit and all three runners advanced on a throwing error on the Fontbonne third baseman.  Lasky singled in Bonds with Stevenson reaching third.  Lasky was caught stealing but Taylor Stoulp walked, Stevenson scoring on a throwing error on the catcher as Stoulp stole second.
Kevin Lashley (JR, St. Clair HS, MO) and Ryan Martinez (SR, Illinois Valley CC) pitched scoreless sixth and seventh innings to finish out the game for Webster.  Stevenson would up three for three with two runs and a stolen base.  Taylor Stoulp was two for two, with two RBIs,  a double, stolen base, walk, and an HBP.
Game two featured some of the same hijinxs as game one.  Webster fell behind 2-0 in the top of the second but roared back with four runs in the second and three in the third, courtesy of three Griffin errors.
Ian Foege (JR, Eureka HS, MO) walked to lead off the second and took third on a Kevin Kojs (JR, Lincoln Way Central HS, IL) double.  Stevenson laid down a sac bunt and reached first on a fielders choice as Foege slid in ahead of a throw home.  Stoulp singled in Kojs and Rainbolt doubled in Stevenson and Stoulp to make it 4-2 Gorloks.
Webster had three straight hits to start the third inning, and three Griffin miscues aided in the Gorloks scoring three runs in the frame to make it 7-3.  Rainbolt led off the fourth inning with a long home run onto the right field porch to make it 8-3.  The Gorloks scored a run in the sixth, on another Fontbonne miscue, and a single and three straight doubles led to three more runs in the seventh to make it 12-3.
Fontbonne would wind up with five errors in the game and 10 on the evening.
Rainbolt was three for five, with a home run, two doubles, and four RBIs.  Taylor Stoulp was three for five, with two RBIs, a double, and a run scored.  Brett Buchanan (JR, Willowbrook HS, IL) was three for five also, with a double, an RBI, and a run scored.  Webster had 16 hits for the game.
Cody Hafeli (SR, Kankakee CC, IL) started and pitched through six innings for the win.  He allowed two earned runs on three hits and two walks, while striking out six.  Hafeli is 5-2 on the season.  Three different Gorlok relievers finished up the final three innings with Jason Gray (JR, Oran HS, MO) throwing the final inning and a third, setting down four straight batters.  Gray is unscored on in 14 appearances in 2013 and extended his scoreless streak to 17innings.
Webster has a busy week, starting with single games at Greenville College (IL) on April 22 and at Washington University on April 23.   On April 27-28 the Gorloks travel to Louisville, KY, for a three-game set with Spalding University.
