Gorloks Pelt Beavers, 18-6, With 19-Hit Attack

Box Score The Webster University softball team kept its high-octane offense revved up, beating Blackburn College, 18-6, on April 10 in Carlinville, IL.  Game two was rained out.  Rachel Franck led the Gorlok 19-hit onslaught as Samantha Powers threw a complete game win.

Franck (SO, Florissant, MO/McCluer North HS) was 5-6, with five RBIs, four runs, a double, and a triple.  Franck raised her season batting average to .480, slipping past Kallie Federhofer (JR, St. Louis, MO/Lutheran South HS), who is hitting .459 after a 1-5 night, for the team lead.

Erin McGinnis (SO, Fenton, MO/Rockwood Summit HS) was 4-6, with five RBIs also, and scored two runs, raising her average to .419.  Molly Muntz (SR, Streator, IL/Streator HS) was 3-5, with two RBIs, and is now batting .418.

Powers (SR, Manchester, MO/John F. Kennedy HS) evened her season record at 5-5 with the seven-inning complete game, her fourth of the year.  She allowed six hits, walked two, and gave up two earned runs in the contest.

Webster has won three straight and is 5-4 in the SLIAC and 9-12 overall.  A makeup date vs. Blackburn for game two has not been set yet.  The team has another road contest on April 12, a doubleheader at Greenville College.
