Box Score Facing the #11 ranked team in the country on the road, the Webster University softball team dropped a doubleheader to Central College, 10-7 and 10-0 (5 inn), on April 6 in Pella, IA. The Gorloks were able to mount an offensive attack in game one, banging out 13 hits, and hang with Central, but were shut out in game two as pitching woes continued for them.
Webster fell behind in game one, 3-0, but battled back to tie the score at 3-3. Central came right back with five more runs to pull ahead 8-3, but the Gorloks hung three more runs on the Dutch to make it 8-6. But Webster pitching gave two runs right back to put the Gorloks in a 10-6 hole, and they could only muster one more run as they fell, 10-7.
Kallie Federhofer (JR, St. Louis, MO/Lutheran South HS) was 3-4, with two RBIs and a run. Taylor Gibbs (JR, Alton, IL/Alton HS) homered for the third consecutive game, hitting a two-run job to give her three on the year. Freshman Emily Kolisch (St. Louis, MO/Incarnate Word Academy) was 3-4 with a double and a run scored.
Samantha Powers (SR, Manchester, MO/John F. Kennedy HS) started and took the loss, dropping to 3-5 on the season.
The Gorloks could only muster six hits in game two. Federhofer was 2-2 and Rachel Franck (SO, Florissant, MO/McCluer North HS) was 2-2 as well.
Freshman Amber Sinamon (St. Louis, MO/Affton HS) started and was overpowered by the Dutch batters. She took the loss and is now 0-1 on the season.
The Gorloks fall to 6-12 overall. Webster is home on April 8 as they host Principia College (IL) in a doubleheader at Blackburn Park.
