Ainsworth and Hickson Earn SLIAC Player of Week Honors

Box Score 1 | Box Score 3 Rachael Ainsworth and Jason Hickson were named St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference 'Players of the Week' for September 15-21.  Ainsworth's selection comes after just her first two complete collegiate soccer games and Hickson, a cross country runner, pulled off his second straight nod as a SLIAC POW.

Ainsworth, a freshman from Salt Lake City, UT (Salt Lake Center for Science Education), was named the Women's Soccer Defensive Player for the week.  She manned the goal in Webster's bid to upset the #1 ranked Washington University Bears. Ainsworth faced 26 shots, and 15 shots on goal, finishing the game with 13 saves in a 2-1 loss.  Her save total was the fourth highest in a single game by a Gorlok in program history. In her next outing, Ainsworth stopped two shots in a 1-1 double overtime tie against Franklin College (IN). On the week she finished with an .833 save percentage and a 1.35 goals against average.  Her goals against average on the season is 0.95.

Hickson, a senior from Hillsboro, MO (Hillsboro HS), was named the Men's Cross Country runner of the week.  He placed 6th at this weekend's Southern Illinois University at Carbondale Invitational. Hickson finished the 8K race with a time of 25:59, a pace of 5:14 mile. He finished the meet as the top non-NCAA Division I finisher while his 8K time was the fifth-fastest in program history.  This was Hickson's second straight Player of the Week honor, being named for the week of September 8-14 for his first place finish at Hanover College (IN) on September 13.

Congratulations to Rachael and Jason on their honors!
