Gorloks Set Goal Record in 13-2 Win Over Tigers

Box Score Opening up the 2014 St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference schedule with a bang, the Webster University men's soccer team drubbed Iowa Wesleyan College, 13-2, on September 27, in Mt. Pleasant, IA.  In the process the Gorloks ended an eight-game winless streak with an exclamation point, setting a team single game record for goals.

Cody DuPree (JR, St. Louis, MO/Lindbergh HS) led the scoring barrage for Webster, not only scoring his first career goal for Webster, but netting a hat trick in the process.  Dzani Delic (FR, St. Louis, MO/Mehlville HS) and Alex Whalen (SO, Chesterfield, MO/Parkway Central HS) each scored single goals for Webster.

Senior Taylor Overstreet (SR, Florissant, MO/McCluer North HS) had a goal for Webster as well, his third in five games.  Nermin Hajrizi (SO, St. Louis, MO/Mehlville HS) scored his first goals as a Gorlok, netting two in the game.

Carlton Poindexter (JR, Florissant, MO/McCluer North HS), Ben Howard (JR, St Jacob, IL/Triad HS), Austin Pierce (SO, O'Fallon, MO/Francis Howell Central HS), Mason Stevens (FR, Dixon, MO/Dixon HS), and Joey Florian (SO, Ballwin, MO/John F. Kennedy HS), all scored their first career goals for Webster as well.

Zach Horn (SO, Godfrey, IL/Marquette HS) had his first start in goal for Webster, picking up his first victory.  He is 1-0 on the season.

Webster set its previous single game high in goals last season at the Soccer Park against Wesleyan, scoring 11 in that game.

The Gorloks are 1-0 in the SLIAC and 3-8-1 overall on the season.  Webster has a week off before travelling to Eureka College (IL) on October 4.
