Box Score 3 Jessica Davis and Jason Hickson were selected as St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week for September 1-7. Davis has contributed to a string of three straight shutouts for the Gorloks' women's soccer team and Hickson took home first place in the Hanover (IN) Invitational.
Davis (SR, Belleville, IL/Belleville West HS), extended her scoreless streak to 253 minutes as she blanked two more opponents this week. Davis picked up a win in her team's 2-0 victory over Benedictine University, shutting out the Eagles for the first half before teammate Rachael Ainsworth (FR, Salt Lake City, UT/Salt Lake Schoof for Science Education) finished up in the second. Davis followed up with a four-save shutout in Webster's 0-0 double overtime tie against Rhodes Collge (TN), ranked fifth in the Central Region. This is the fifth time Davis had been named defensive Player of the Week, with one selection in 2013, two in 2012, and one in 2011.
Hickson, a senior from Hillsboro, Mo., claimed first place in the Hanover Invitational. Hickson finished the 8k course with a time of 27:28, a 5:32 minute pace. Hickson placed first out of 61 runners in the field and becomes just the third Gorlok to capture a race title in the program's history, along with Ethan Jeffries (twice in 2013) and Derrick McKee (2008). This is Hickson's second Player of the Week nod, also receiving one in 2012.
Congratulations to Jessica and Jason on their honors.
