Box Score The Webster University men's soccer team won its third straight game, all in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, 1-0 over Blackburn College in Carlinville, IL, on October 10. Zach Gyuricza scored the Gorloks lone goal and Alex Bergmann won his third straight in the nets.
Gyuricza (FR, Chicago, IL/St. Viator HS) netted his team-leading fifth goal at the 69:58 mark in the second half off a feed from Drew Quisenberry (FR, Morton, IL/Morton HS). It was Quisenberry's team-high third assist of the season.
Bergmann (FR, Wentzville, MO/St. Dominic HS) improved to 3-1 on the season in goal. He faced four shots, making one save, in gaining his first collegiate shutout.
Webster dominated the contest, outshooting the Beavers 25-4, including 14-1 in the second half. The Gorloks only had one goal for their efforts, but with a stout defensive effort and Bergmann's back-stopping, it was all they would need.
The Gorloks were coming off two exciting 3-2 wins, over Eureka College and Fontbonne University, in their last two contests. Webster is now 3-0-1 in the SLIAC and 4-7-2 overall.
Webster is set for a showdown on October 13, as they host Westminster College (MO). The Blue Jays are 4-0, and atop the SLIAC standings, pending the outcome of the Greenville College/Fontbonne University contest later in the evening. Greenville is 3-0 entering that contest.
