Men's Soccer Tethers Tigers, 7-0

Box Score The Webster University men's soccer team defeated Iowa Wesleyan University, 7-0, on October 24 at the Soccer Park.  Webster's offense output was led by Filip Delija's hat trick.  The Gorloks improved to 5-2-1 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.

Brendan Shields (JR, St. Peter's, MO/Ft. Zumwalt East HS) started the Gorlok scoring with a goal at 5:57.  Delija (FR, Chicago, IL/Stevenson HS) scored his first goal at 14:43, and Jeremy Statman (FR, Austin, TX/McCullum HS) would give Webster a 3-0 lead with a tallly at 26:21. 

Delija scored his second goal at 60:01 in the second half, assisted by Zach Gyuricza (FR, Chicago, IL/St. Viator HS).  It was Gyuricza's third assist in the game.  Delija completed his hat trick at 62:08, giving him six goals in the last three games.  The six goals also ties Delija with Gyuricza for the team lead on the season.

Nermin Hajrizi (SO, St. Louis, MO/Mehlville HS) and Marc Crawford (FR, Cottleville, MO/Francis Howell Central HS) scored Webster's final two goals to make it a 7-0 final.

Three different goalies spent time in the nets for the Gorloks, with Alex Bergmann (FR, Wentzville, MO/St. Dominic's HS) starting and picking up the win.  Bergmann is 5-1 on the season.  Zach Horn (JR, Godfrey, IL/Alton Marquette HS) and Charles McGhee (FR, Waterloo, IL/Waterloo HS) also took turns in goal in the contest, with all three sharing the shutout.

Webster holds onto fourth place in the SLIAC at 5-2-1 with one more conference game remaining, vs. Greenville who was tied for first at 6-0 with three games remaining.  Webster hosts Greenville on October 31.  The Gorloks have one more non-conference game on October 25 as they host Finlandia University (MI) at the Soccer Park.
