Gorloks Beat Yellow Jackets in Seven, 11-1

Box Score The Webster University baseball team won its third straight, beating Waynesburg University (PA), 11-1, in seven innings, on March 12 in Auburndale, FL.  Dylan Dean Smith started and picked up the win, and a Kyle Uhrich homer led the Gorlok offense.
 
Smith (SR, Albion, IL/Edwards County HS) started and went five scoreless innings, giving up four hits, walking none, and striking out four to improve to 2-0.  It was Smith's second win in three days for the Gorloks.
 
Webster jumped to a 9-0 lead before winning on the 10-run rule after seven innings.    In the Webster third, Mike Golich FR, Aurora, IL/Aurora West HS) singled, and with one out, stole second, and took third on a wild pitch.
 
After Charlie Gandolfi (SR, Mundelein, IL/Mundelein HS) walked and stole second, Blake Thomas (JR, Troy, IL/Triad HS) doubled in Golich and Gandolfi.  Kyle Uhrich (SO, St. Louis, MO/Maryville University) tripled Thomas home for a 3-0 Gorlok lead.
 
In the Webster fifth, Gandolfi walked and stole second again, with Thomas doubling him home.  Uhrich homered to make it 6-0.  Tyler Hoffhines (JR, Depew, NY/Lancaster HS) walked and Dylan Rajkovich (JR, Orland Park, IL/Carl Sandburg HS) singled.

A Matt Wollnik (SO, Naperville, IL/Neuqua Valley HS) single hit Hoffhines for an out, and Brett Jungles (SO, Naperville, IL/St. Francis HS) reached on an error to load the bases again, but the Gorloks would settle for the three runs.

Jake Celleghin (JR, Westfield, IN/Westfield HS) reached on an E1 in the top of the sixth.  Thomas forced Celleghin and Uhrich walked, with a Jeff Kammer (SR, Chesterfield, MO/Lafayette HS) HBP loading the bases.  Hoffhines singled in Thomas and Uhrich, and Wollnik singled in Kammer to make it 9-0.

After the Yellow Jackets picked up a run off reliever Jack Bensinger (SR, Los Angeles, CA/Campbell Hall) in the bottom of the sixth, the Gorlok put two more runs on the board in the seventh.  Celleghin tripled and scored on error off the bat of Aaron Meyer (FR, New Haven, MO/Washington HS).  Meyer took second on passed ball and third on a groundout.  He scores on another passed ball to make it 11-1.

Bensinger took over for Smith in the sixth, going one inning and giving up a run on three hits.  Zach Schneider (SR, Grayslake, IL/Warren Township HS) pitched a scoreless seventh to end the contest.

Uhrich was 2-4, with a home run, triple, three RBIs, a walk, and two runs scored.  Thomas was 2-4, with two doubles, three RBIs, and three runs scored.  Hoffhines was 2-3 with two RBIs and a walk, and Wollnik was 2-4 with an RBI.  Golich finished the games 2-2 with a run scored.

Webster is now 3-2 in Florida and 4-4 overall.  The Gorloks face Eastern Connecticut State University on March 12 at Auburndale and finish the Florida swing with a game against the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point on March 13.
