Box Score The #18 ranked Webster University baseball team started its spring trip with a loss to Moravian College (PA) on March 7 in Punta Gorda, FL. The Gorloks took an early 1-0 lead, but three unearned runs helped put them in a 4-1 hole, before losing, 5-2.
Alec Bahnick (SO, Owensboro, KY/Owensboro Catholic HS) singled to lead off the third, swiped second and third, and scored on a groundout by Blake Thomas (JR, Troy, IL/Triad HS). The Greyhounds scored two in the bottom of the third when pitcher C.J. Lee helped put himself in a hole. The Greyhounds scored two more in the sixth, one unearned, off reliever Trey Tigart (SO, Sikeston, MO/Sikeston HS) who had relieved Lee in the fifth. Moravian sandwiched a pair of singles around an error. Matt Goro (SO, Wildwood, MO/Lafayette HS) was summoned to put out the fire, and struck out the first batter he faced to end the inning, but the Gorloks trailed 4-1. Goro was touched for a run in the seventh after giving up a double, an intentional walk, and an RBI single to make it 5-1, Moravian.
