The Webster University women's soccer team rolled to its third win in its last four games, downing Iowa Wesleyan University, 12-0, on October 1 in Mt. Pleasant, IA. The Gorloks had too much firepower for the Tigers as 12 different players got into the scoring column.
Webster jumped to a 9-0 halftime lead and coasted to the 12-0 final. Abbey Mercer (FR, Granite City, IL/Granite City) started in goal for the Gorloks and picked up her first collegiate win in style with a shutout.
Getting into the scoring column for Webster were: Elena Bloma, Janel Bond, Lilly Brauer, Kelli Cardine, Kayla Dye, Allison Ferguson, Kelsey Hausmann, Jodi Kaiping, Melissa Kasper, Chelsea Noser, Olivia Osterhage, and Sydney Tedesco.
The Gorloks are 2-0 in the SLIAC and 4-6 overall.
Webster travels to Fulton, MO, for a SLIAC showdown at Westminster College on October 5. The Blue Jays took the SLIAC Tournament Championship from the Gorloks on penalty kicks last fall, after Webster finished the regular season in first place, a half game ahead of Westminster.
