Gorloks Stay Perfect In SLIAC W/ Win Over Beavers

The Webster University women's soccer team remained undefeated and in first place in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference with a 7-0 win over Blackburn College, on October 27 at the Soccer Park.  Six different Gorloks scored with Chelsea Noser leading the way with two goals and two assists

Webster (8-0) clinched home field advantage for the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Tournament and it hosts Westminster College (5-3), on November 2 at the Soccer Park, in the semi-finals.  A Webster win would pit them vs. the winner of the Fontbonne University/Spalding University semi-final on November 4 at the Soccer Park.  The Gorloks, with one conference game left this season, are 34-1 over the last four regular seasons in the SLIAC and 48-3 over the last six.

Noser (SO, Collinsville, IL/Collinsville) notched her fifth goal at the 4:50 mark in the first, with Sydney Tedesco (JR, Belleville, IL/Belleville East) assisting.  Tedesco later would score her second goal of the season in the second half.  Noser assisted on Jodi Kaiping's (SR, Waterloo, IL) third of the year five minutes later.  Alli Ferguson (SR, Highland, IL/HIghland) added her team-high 11th goal to make it 3-0.

Savannah Page (FR, Sandy, UT/Jordan) scored her first collegiate goal and Janel Bond (FR, Cincinnati, OH/Summit Country Day) added her seventh goal, both assisted by Melissa Kasper (FR, Chicago, IL/Oswego), to put Webster up, 5-0, at the half.  Along with Tedesco's tally, Noser tacked on her sixth goal of the year in the second half for the 7-0 final.

Abbey Mercer (FR, Granite City, IL/Granite City) started in goal for the Gorloks and picked up the shutout.  She is 3-1 on the season with a 0.58 goals against average.  Combined with Aly Miller (FR, Middleville, MI/Thornapple), Webster's freshmen goalie tandem is 7-2 on the year.

Webster is 8-0 in the SLIAC and 10-7 overall.  The Gorloks finish up their regular season schedule with a game at Eureka College (IL) on October 29.  The start time for the game vs. Westminster on November 2 will be 7:00 p.m.
