The Webster University women's soccer team completed its third perfect season of the last four in SLIAC play, rolling to a 9-0 win at Eureka College, on October 29 in Eureka, IL. The Gorloks wound up 9-0 in the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, winning their fourth straight outright title, and fifth straight counting a share of the title in 2012.
The Gorloks are 35-1 over the last four regular seasons in the SLIAC and 49-3 over the last six. Webster has home field advantage for the SLIAC Tournament and hosts Westminster College, on November 2 at the Soccer Park, in the semi-finals. A Webster win would pit them vs. the winner of the Fontbonne University/Spalding University semi-final on November 4 at the Soccer Park.
Against Eureka, Webster took an 8-0 lead at the half and coasted to the 9-0 final. Kayla Dye (JR, St. Louis, MO/Windsor) got the ball rolling with her fifth goal at the 9:48 mark. Alli Ferguson (SR, Highland, IL/Highland) followed with her team-leading 12th goal at 14:27. Kelli Cardine (SR, Chicago, IL/DeKalb) scored goals at 17:25 and two minutes later at 19:30, giving her three on the year.
With her goal, Ferguson completed the SLIAC circuit with a goal against every conference team. She is the only player in the SLIAC to accomplish this feat in 2016.
Claudea Kuykendall (FR, Sikeston, MO/Sikeston) made it 5-0 at 34:09 with her first collegiate goal. Janel Bond (FR, Cincinnati, OH/Summit Country Day) scored a pair of goals at 40:55 and 44:13, sandwiched around a goal by Olivia Osterhage (FR, St. Louis, MO/Eureka) at 41:48. That gave Bond nine goals on the season and for Osterhage, it was her third.
Raena Bennett (FR, Chicago, IL/Mundelein) also scored her first collegiate goal, making it 9-0 at 60:47 in the second half. Play was called at the 75:00 mark. The Gorloks had 61 shots, including 24 on goal, in the contest.
Aly Miller (FR, Middleville, MI/Thornapple) started in goal for Webster and picked up the win, improving to 5-1 on the year. Alisa Coralic (SO, St. Louis, MO/Mehlville) took over in goal in the second half and completed the shutout for the Gorloks.
Webster is 11-7 overall. The start time for the Gorlok's semi-final game vs. Westminster on November 2 will be 7:00 p.m.
