The Webster University women's soccer team took on Augustana College in Rock Island, IL, on September 10, and lost to the Vikings, 2-0. The Gorloks faced a tough road foe in the Vikings, who are undefeated on the season.
The contest was scoreless at the half, with Gorlok goalie Robin Bolme (JR, Smyrna, TN/Blackman) making five saves to shut down the Vikings. Alisa Coralic (SO, St. Louis, MO/Mehlville) took over in the nets in the second half and got a rude welcome as Augustana got on the board three minutes in with a goal at 48:12.
Augustana extended its lead to 2-0 at the 58:12 mark. The Vikings finished the match with a 15-5 advantage in shots. The Gorloks, who had a dominant performance last weekend but came away with a 1-0 loss to Edgewood College, had a tougher go with Augustana, who improved to 4-0 on the season. Augustana was 15-5-1 in 2015 and advanced to the NCAA III Championships.
Webster will have its home opener on September 13 vs. North Central College at the Soccer Park. The Gorloks will face Rose-Hulman Institute on September 15 at the Soccer Park before heading to Memphis, TN, for a pair of games on September 17-18.
