The Webster University women's soccer team extended its winning streak to five games with a 6-0 win at MacMurray College, on October 14, in Jacksonville, IL. The Gorloks are hanging onto first place in the SLIAC at 5-0, one half game ahead of Spalding University at 4-0.
The Gorloks totally dominated the contest, outshooting the Highlanders, 25-0, and had nine corner kicks to none for MacMurray. Six different players scored for Webster as it rolled to a 3-0 halftime lead and coasted to the 6-0 final.
Olivia Osterhage (SO, St. Louis, MO/Eureka) got Webster started with an unassisted goal at 8:44. Melissa Kasper (SO, Chicago, IL/Oswego) made it 2-0 with a goal at 18:50, assisted by Lauren Nuelle (SR, St. Louis, MO/St. Joseph's Academy. Jen Laaksonen (SO, St. Louis, MO/Fox) made it 3-0 heading into the locker room with a goal at 29:54, with Alyson Egizio (FR, Joliet, IL/Joliet Catholic) getting the assist.
Nuelle scored her fifth goal of the year to make it 4-0 at 47:20, with Osterhage getting the assist. Brianna Pagan (SR, St. Louis, MO/Washington) got an unassisted goal at 50:39 and Kelsey Hausmann (SR, St. Louis, MO/Mehlville) closed out the scoring at 81:37 with her sixth goal of the season. Laaksonen picked up the assist.
Webster has never lost to MacMurray, holding a 24-0 series edge back to their first meeting in 1999.
Webster, the sixth ranked team in the Central Regiona, is 5-0 in the SLIAC and 13-1 overall. Webster will host Eureka College on October 18 at the Soccer Park.
