Gorloks Start 3-0 With Win at Concordia

The Webster University women's soccer team blanked Concordia University, 2-0, on September 4, in Chicago, IL.  Chelsea Noser broke a scoreless tie at the 67 minute mark and the Webster defense held as the Gorloks improved to 3-0 on the young season.

the Gorloks dominated in the first, outshooting the Cougars, 9-0, for the half but the game was scoreless at the break.  Webster broke through at 67:36 in the second half when Chelsea Noser (SR, Collinsville, IL/Collinsville) punched in a rebound of a Lauren Nuelle (SR, St. Louis, MO/St. Joseph's Academy) shot.  It turned out to be the game winner and was Noser's first goal of the season and the 19th of her career.  She currently is tied for 17th on Webster's career all-time goals list with Amanda Zeier (2008-11).

Nuelle picked up the assist, her first point for the Gorloks since 2014.  Nuelle missed the 2015 and 2016 seasons as she has fought back from injury.

Joi Wilson (FR, Trace, CA/Tracy) picked up an insurance tally just two minutes later when she banged home a rebound off a Melissa Kasper (SO, Chicago, IL/Oswego) shot, right in the center of the goal.  The goal was Wilson's second of the year.

In a typical Webster defensive fashion, the Gorloks didn't allow a goal as the team picked up its second shutout and has allowed only one goal in three games.  Webster wound up with a 22-5 shot advantage.  Alysa Coralic (JR, St. Louis, MO/Mehlville) and Aly Miller (SO, Middleville, MI/Thornapple) shared the shutout for the Gorloks.  Miller had two saves in the second half as she saw the Cougars only two shots on goal.

Webster starts the season 3-0 for the first time since 2013 when the Gorloks started 5-0.

Webster heads back to Chicago for a game with Elmhurst College on September 10, then travels to Mount Vernon, IA, on September 15 to play Cornell College.
