CARLINVILLE, Ill. – Webster University Women's Soccer used three second half goals here Wednesday afternoon to post a 3-0 victory over Blackburn College in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play at Blackburn Stadium.
With the win, Webster improves to 10-4-1 overall and moves into a tie for second place in the league standings with a 4-1-1 record, while Blackburn falls to 3-10 overall and 1-5 in the league.
In Wednesday's match, the Gorloks held a 34-2 edge in shots, including a 20-0 edge in shots in a scoreless first half. WU also held a 17-0 advantage in shots on goal in the win.
The Gorloks, who were shutout in the first half for the third straight match, got into the scoring action in the 54th minute as sophomore forward
Jordan Lande (Sachse, Texas/Sachse) scored her team leading 14th goal to give the Gorloks a 1-0 lead. Lande's goal, which came off an assist by senior forward
Melissa Kasper (Oswego, Ill./Oswego) snapped a nearly 326 minute scoreless streak for the Gorloks that had dated to the 17th minute of its 1-0 win at Spalding on Oct. 12.
In the 71st minute, Lande gave scored her second goal of the game off a pass from Kasper to give the Gorloks a 2-0 lead and then47 seconds after Lande's goal, Kasper found the back of the net for her 46th career goal. Kasper's goal, which came off an assist from senior midfielder
Savannah Page (Sandy, Utah/Jordan) made the score 3-0 in Webster's favor.
Lande and Page paced the Gorloks with seven shots each, including Page putting five of her seven shots on goal. In addition to Page and Lande, freshman midfielder
Carlee McCormack (Rolla, Mo./Rolla) and sophomore midfielder
Ryleigh Grommet (Rolla, Mo./Rolla) each took three shots and combined for three shots on goal. For the match, 13 different Gorloks took at least one shot and 10 Gorloks recorded at least one shot on goal.

Taryn Banfield (Plano, Texas/Plano East) played all 90 minutes in net on Wednesday and did not face a shot as Webster's defense held the Beavers to just two second half shots. Banfield improved to 9-3-1 with the win and recorded her sixth shutout of the season.
The shutout was the eighth overall of the season for the Gorloks and its fifth shutout in six league games on the year.
Libby Adams and Morgan Adams took Blackburn's two shots, both of which were blocked by Webster's defense.
Morgan Zobrist (3-10) took the loss in net for the Beavers as she played all 90 minutes and allowed three goals, while recording 14 saves.
WU also took six corner kicks in the win.
Webster will now look to win its second straight match this coming Saturday, Oct. 26 as the Gorloks host MacMurray College (6-8 overall, 3-3 SLIAC) for a 3:30 p.m. SLIAC match at World Wide Technology Soccer Park in Fenton, Mo.
