WEBSTER GROVES - Webster University Volleyball extended its win streak to three straight matches here Wednesday evening as the Gorloks picked up a three-set sweep over Fontbonne University (25-12, 25-18, 25-11) in St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference action on Senior Night at Grant Gymnasium.
Prior to Wednesday's match, Webster honored its three seniors and two juniors in a pre-match ceremony as this year's seniors are student manager Claire Martin (Newbergh, Ind./Castle), right side hitter
Sarah Jacobs (Carbondale, Ill./Murphysboro) and setter
Jenna Rodriguez (Smithton, Ill./Freeburg), while the two juniors who are graduating this spring are libero
Kristen Farrah (St. Charles, Mo./Francis Howell) and outside hitter
Samantha Kruse (Waterloo, Ill./Waterloo).
With the victory, Webster improves to 15-10 overall and 12-4 in the SLIAC, while Fontbonne falls to 4-23 overall and 4-12 in the league.
Along with being Senior Night on Wednesday, the Gorloks and Fontbonne also celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness Month with WU's 11th-annual Dig Pink® match in support of the Sideout Foundation, which raises money and awareness of breast cancer.
Against the Griffins, Webster, who picked up a three set win over FBU this past Saturday at the Westminster Quadrangle, hit .260 as they recorded 36 kills and had five aces, while on defense, WU outblocked FBU, 6-1 and recorded 58 digs, including a match-high 19 digs from Farrah, who pushed her career dig total to 1,889 and is now 40 digs shy of Katie O'Toole's school record of 1,929 digs, which was set by O'Toole from 2013-16.
Webster's offense was paced by 11 kills and a .500 attack percentage for junior middle hitter
Jordan Price (Fulton, Ill./Carl Sandburg College), while Jacobs added seven kills and hit .286. Kruse and freshman outside hitter
Lauren Borik (Belleville, Ill./Althoff) each had six kills, while Borik hit .400 and Kruse added 16 digs.
Rodriguez set the table for Webster's offense as she finished with 19 assists to push her career total to 994 assists and is now six assists shy of becoming the 10th Gorlok to record 1,000 career assists. In addition to Rodriguez, junior setter
Emma Larson (Bellevue, Neb./Bellevue West) had 12 digs and a team-best three aces.

Kylie Burke (Belleville, Ill./Belleville West) had four blocks, while Jacobs, Price and freshman setter
Mary Nelson (St. Louis, Mo./Bishop DuBourg) each had two assisted blocks.
The first set featured six ties and two lead changes. In the set, FBU jumped out to a 5-2 lead, before the Gorloks used a 5-1 run capped by a Jacobs kill to take a 7-6 lead. After the Griffins retied the set at 7 following a kill by Rae Andrews, the Gorloks used a 7-1 run to push its lead to 14-8. The run was capped by four straight attack errors by the Griffins. FBU, though, would respond with a 3-1 run to pull within 15-11. That would be as close as FBU would get as the Gorloks scored 10 of the final 11 points to seal its 25-12 set win. In the set, WU hit .324 and had 12 kills and four blocks, while FBU hit -.021 and had 10 kills and 11 attack errors.
In the early going of the second set, neither team was able to get much of a lead until the Gorloks used a 7-1 run to take an 11-5 lead. FBU, though, responded with a 4-1 run to drop WU's lead to 12-9. The Gorloks would answer with an 11-3 run to push out to a 23-12 lead. The Griffins wouldn't go away as they used a 6-1 run to pull within 24-18, before Kruse sealed the 25-18 set win with a kill. In the set, WU hit .220 and had 16 kills, while FBU had seven kills and hit .088.
Webster dominated in the third set as they jumped out to a 7-2 lead and wouldn't look back and they eventually pushed its lead 22-9. After a kill by Olivia Tallo stopped WU's run, the Gorloks would score three of the final four points to seal the 25-11 win. In the set, WU hit .240 and held FBU to a -.079 hitting percentage.
Tallo paced FBU with eight kills, while Andrews added six kils and 10 digs. Megan Schaller paced the Griffins defense with 11 digs as FBU had 48 digs in the loss.
The Gorloks will close out SLIAC play this coming Saturday, Nov. 2 as they host Eureka and Iowa Wesleyan at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. respectively in a quadrangle hosted by the Gorloks at Grant Gymnasium.
