Sunday's Softball Games in Memphis Cancelled Due to Weather

MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Due to overnight rains that made the softball field at Rhodes College unplayable, Webster's two softball games on Sunday against Maryville (Tenn.) College and Rhodes College have been cancelled and will not be made up.

The Gorloks, who opened the season with back-to-back setbacks on Saturday against Maryville and Rhodes in the collegiate coaching debut of Webster's interim coach Katie Griffth, were scheduled to play those same two teams on Sunday at 10 a.m. and at 2 p.m. respectively.

Prior to deciding to cancel the games, the starts were pushed back two hours to allow for more time for the field to dry, but the coaches of the teams and Rhodes College officials decided that the wasn't going to be able to dry enough to make it playable so the decision was made to cancel all the games scheduled for Sunday.

With Sunday's cancellation, the Gorloks (0-2 on the season) will now wait two weeks before returning to action on Sunday, March 2 as they travel down Big Bend for a single game beginning at 1 p.m. against Washington University in St. Louis. Webster's first home games of the 2019 season at Blackburn Park are scheduled for Wednesday, March 20 as the Gorloks will host Robert Morris-Springfield for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
