ST. LOUIS, Mo. – The Webster University women's soccer team took the field yesterday for a SLIAC matchup with the Spalding (Ky.) University Golden Eagles. The Gorloks defeated the Golden Eagles by a final score of 1-0 to improve to 10-3-1 on the year and 6-2-1 in SLIAC play. With the loss, Spalding falls to 7-6 on the season and 5-4-1 in conference play.
Webster out shot Spalding 15-8 in the game and finished with four shots on target compared to three from the Golden Eagles. Webster also controlled the corner count as the Gorloks finished with seven corner kicks while the Golden Eagles finished with two.
Mackenzie O'Neal had the goal for the Gorloks as she was able to find the back of the net in the seventh minute of the game for her fourth tally of the season.
Jennifer Munger had the assist on the goal, her team leading seventh of the year.
Taryn Banfield was in goal for the Gorloks as she recorded three saves in her sixth solo shutout of the season.
The Gorloks return to the field on Monday, October 18
th when they travel to Greenville, Illinois, to take on the Greenville (Ill.) University Panthers in a SLIAC matchup. The game is set to kick-off at 7 p.m.
